News Flash!!!  The intelliremote source is available at right here.  Enjoy, and keep me posted as to what you do with it!

Note: I have pretty much transferred the intelliremote project to Darkain.  He plans to continue the development of intelliremote (which I sadly abandoned a few months ago).  You can check out his page at http://darkain.8m.com and check out his postings at the Winamp newsgroups at http://forums.winamp.com.

Intelliremote by Andrew Schwartz - Intelliremote@alssi.com
An alternate to the Creative Remotecenter product available at www.alssi.com/intelliremote/

Supports: Tested with Soundblaster Live! and Audigy with possible support for the Extigy (unsure if it works).

This software requires both the creative soundblaster drivers to be installed along with the Microsoft Intellitype drivers, available at www.microsoft.com/hardware/. The purpose of this program is simple: to remove any need for the much loved Creative Remotecenter software, and implement and extend the full functionality of the Creative Live!Drive remote in a space and memory efficient manner.

Known issues: Possible incompatibility with Extigy (email me with any reports)

Installation: Unzip IntRem.zip and run IntRem.exe from any directory. Adding a shortcut to the executable in the startup directory is advisable. Set the midi device number at the DWORD: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intelliremote\DeviceNo
SBAudigy users will probably wish to set the DeviceNo to 1, SBLive users will probably wish to set the DeviceNo to 0.

Wish list:
Email me and your suggestion will probably be added :)

Eventually, I will make all the buttons fully customizable through the registry, unless I feel in the mood to write a GUI.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

What's new:

Intelliremote 0.907 03/17/02:
I have removed the code to autodetect the proper midi device number, due to oddnesses with the SB Audigy and multiple midi chains. Now, the device number is manually set in the registry with the DWORD HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Intelliremote\DeviceNo
The default is 0; SBLive! users should not need to modify this value; SBAudigy users will probably wish to set the value to 1.

Intelliremote 0.906 03/15/02:
Fixed the bug regarding the two midi devices of the audigy; now, the software will default to the second device.

Intelliremote 0.905:
Fixed the bug with intrem.exe continuing to persist after the tray icon is gone.
Hopefully fixed support for the audigy/extigy. Now, if the software does not detect an audigy/extigy/live card, it will give error messages corresponding to the enumerated midi devices, followed by "No Soundblaster Live, Audigy or Extigy products identified; using midi device 0." and will appropriately use the midi0 device. If anyone owns an audigy/extigy that is not midi0, email me and I'll add a registry or command-line option to set the midi device number.
Implemented the speaker button! Now, holding down the speaker button while pressing any key except the arrows will cause a button a-z to be generated, where 1= A,2=B...SELECT-OK=Z. Pressing the arrow buttons by themselves will cause normal slow mouse movement; speaker+arrow key will cause quick mouse movement.
The SELECT-OK button now launch Internet Explorer, and can also be remapped in the intellitype control panel.

Intelliremote 0.904:
Decreased file size significantly to 12 KB :). Ain't it cool that this is over 1000x smaller than remotecenter, yet more functional?
Potentially added support for the extigy (unsure - contact me if it works or if it doesn't)

Intelliremote 0.903 03/07/02:
Fixed stupid bug regarding soundblaster card detection.

Intelliremote 0.902:
Well, the executable has not grown at all. Still 30KB :)
Implemented a whole bunch of new keys.
Potentially added support for the audigy (unsure - contact me if it works or if it doesn't)

The numbers 0-9 should simulate the pressing of the keys 0-9 on the keyboard (not the number pad)

The arrow keys simulate mouse movement left, right, up and down.
The SELECT-OK button switches the mode from slow mouse movement to quick mouse movement and back.
RETURN, START-MENU and CLOSE-CANCEL simulate the left, middle and right mouse buttons.

The following are implemented as special keys. Their functionality can be modified to virtually anything by changing their behavior in the keyboard control panel (start-settings-control panel-keyboard-Key Settings):
The SLOW button simulates the "Search" key on the keyboard.
The STEP button simulates the "Favorites" key on the keyboard.
The EAX button simulates the "Calculator" key on the keyboard.
The OPTIONS button simulates the "My Computer" key on the keyboard.
The DISPLAY button simulates the Media key on the keyboard.

Intelliremote 0.901:
Implemented version information.

Intelliremote 0.900 03/04/02:
First version. It works! The STOP-EJECT, PLAY-PAUSE, PREVIOUS, NEXT, MUTE, VOLUME-UP and VOLUME-DOWN buttons all behave as expected using the intellitype APIs. Make sure to download the latest intellitype software from Microsoft at www.microsoft.com/hardware/.
